Once again, i am completely convicted about just how little of myself i give to my Savior. Don't take this the wrong way. I am involved in ministry at my church 15-20 hours a week, tithe, participate in a wonderful home group, etc. All of those things are great! Like Paul said: "What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works?" But there comes a point where you get so busy with the "dos" of ministry and life, that you completely drain yourself and think, "God, i just don't have any energy left to give you with devotion or time in your word."
Which, really is sort of backwards. Because when you "give yourself" to God in this way, he in turn pours back into you so much more. It's like laptops. I have a nice, but older 12" Apple Powerbook G4. I use the thing constantly for work at the church, fun, email, internet, music, recording, etc. It gets a good 3 or 4 hours of battery life and is constantly on. The only problem is that--if i don't plug it in to a power outlet, it dies because it has no power left to give. I think that's a good picture of us as humans. We need to plug into "the source of (our) life in Christ Jesus" (1 Cor. 1:30), God Almighty.
